Hi Lorna,
You are welcome to join us... It is getting a bit too hot for climbing in places with easy routes, suitable for beginers such as wadi Daykah or Kubrah canyon. You will need to get a harness and climbing shoes, this is the minimal climber gear; the rest (rope,...) will be brought by other climbers.
Also, there is a group of walkers who hike Sun and Tue late afternoon on the hills in the back of SQU. I join the group only Sundays (I heard Tue group is quite fast!). We meet 4:30pm in Al Maha Petrol Station, SQU/AlKhod exit of Nizwa Highway.

Hi Lorna,

I may have some extra stuff that you could use if you decide to come out. I also have an extra pair of climbing shoes as well. You could have them, however I'd need to know your shoe size first. Also, ordering stuff seems to be fairly easy as well. But it's great that you want to learn! Very Happy

Walking group meet Sun and Tue late afternoon at 4:45pm and not 4:30 as I earlier stated; no need to contact before hand...It is a nice way to meet other people and plan for weekend longer hikes.
