My name is Roberto Schenone, I am a canyoning
instructor from Scuola Nazionale Canyoning (National
Canyoneering School) of Associazione Italiana Canyoning.
In 2010 our school is going to celebrate the 10th
anniversary. We are planning to celebrate it with a sort of
exploring expedition and we were wondering about
opportunities given by Oman in January-March period.
We do not need technical support, we
are used to do canyoning in severe conditions, as you can
see also on my site
However we would need logistic support (4x4, accomodation,
maps, etc) and we would also like to meet local canyoners.
But, first of all, we should understand if Oman is the place
that fit our expectations. We need therefore to know if
there are still unexplored wadis, if and when we can find
water, if there are environmental regulations or
restrictions and all these sort of things and, of course, if
some of you is interested in giving us support!
I am looking forward for your answer, thanks in advance!
Ciao

Hi Roberto,
there are wadis and canyons in Oman they have water all year round. Nice and easy ones are Snake Canyon and Wadi Bani Khalid lower part. - Both of them are quite easy.
There is a little harder one in Wadi Tiwi.
A very long Wadi Abseil is Wadi Shab - but hardly any water...
If you find Oman inspite the lack of water a good choice, I could help you with the logistics.

Thanks for your answer!
It is not my own decision, but for sure Oman will be my proposal to our school!
Ciao
