OMC Wadi trek on 29th April 2010. Details below:
• difficulties: We assume participants to have experienced the character of tracks in Oman. This particular walk is a donkey path between the village Tiwi ( Wadi Shaab) to Al Jimha (Taylors village).
Abdullah has kindly arranged standby drivers to drive the cars up to the to Al Jimha (Taylors village) to meet us.
Village Tiwi ( wadi Shab) – Al Jimha village: 1300m > 700m min. app.7 hrs
Group leader: Abdullah 92186589/99879744
Wadi Shab 22°50'19.43'' N / 59°14'43.25'' E
Village Al Jimha: 20m >1400m min. 7 hrs / 22°50'05.59'' N / 59°08'28.73'' E
Group will meet on:
· overnight at “White Beach” near Fins or at the entrance to Wadi Shaab on Wednesday or
· Depart early on Thursday from Muscat – Hattat House Petrol station . It is about 1 hour 45 min from Hattat house to the beginning of the trail at the little boat ferry under the highway bridge at Wadi Shab
The hike starts at 06:00 SHARP
Few things to consider:
• The path at times may not be visible but is an old donkey path that connects the villages at the mountains to the coast.
We would expect you to bring/have enough stamina to walk 600 meter altitude difference in one day and that you have no known health issues which could give you trouble on such an exercise, because mountain rescue is not established here in Oman and one may be waiting for a loooong time to get to a hospital.
• return to Muscat latest 21:00 - possibly before that
• please bring your own food, and plenty of drinking water for the day
• co-drivers or guests who join another car should pay ‘petrol money’ to the driver.
Please sign up (latest by Tuesday) for the trek by filling in your data in the excel sheet (https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AmkdlgPcjsk2dFpFUVBWOHNaUzdHWlA4Q1J3MHdUWkE&hl=en at Google documents or here:
