Walking In Jebel Akhdar

Jebel Akhdar is a mountain region about a 1 hour drive from Seeb. To get up onto the plateau (Seeq Plateau) in the middle of the range requires a 4x4 to drive the new tarmac hairpin road...

On the plateau there are many places to explore and in the one afternoon we had up there we only managed to see two villages - set opposite each other on the junction of 2 wadis these now abandonded villages show just how life was. Before the road there was a rough track that took several hours to get up and these village are even further along the poor tarmac now on the top.

We had very little time as the sky started to fill with dark clouds, not a good sign when you are in the mountains as no 4x4 can get through once the wadis start to fill up...

So we headed down and got onto the main highway just as the skies opened. Some 50km futher down the highway the thunder was amazing, so was the lightning....
