On the 5th of January 2006 we went for a walk around part of the rim of Gubrah Bowl. This natural mountain bowl exists about 100km North of Muscat. The drive off the main highway is nearly all on un-sealed roads. We decided to take 2 vehicles which meant we could park one at the finish (Hadash) and then squeeze all of us in to the other for the hairpin drive upto the start (Wakan). The route took about 5 and a half hours to walk - even at that time of the year once you were out of the shade it was hot, but in the shade you actualy felt like you needed gloves! The walk goes out of the Wakan village and climbs up onto the rim of the bowl, about 2 and a half hours... then a quick stroll around part of the rim and a leg burning descent for 2 and a half hours down to Hadash... A Great day out... Here are just a couple of pictures from the day. |
